K-12 Outreach

Youth Outreach and STEM Education

Hello and welcome to our page!

ASCE Philadelphia YMF K-12 Outreach partners up with locals schools, educators, and organizations in the greater Philadelphia area to enhance student knowledge about the STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) fields including Civil Engineering. Our goal is to create opportunities by providing resources for curriculum support and hands-on learning. This past year, we reached nearly 1000 students through our K-12 Outreach events.

Some of the schools we have visited in the past are listed below:

  • • Hillcrest Elementary School
  • • Presentation B.V.M. School
  • • Warren G Harding Middle School
  • • North Penn High School
  • • Northwood Academy Charter School
  • • Fox Chase School
Many of our programs and classroom visits take place throughout the school year and are implemented by our numerous member volunteers. The planned presentations and projects are catered to each classroom and age range of students. Past activities have included (but are not limited to) panel Q&A sessions, slideshow presentations on topics such as "What is a Civil Engineer?", road design computer programs, reinforced earth wall activities, Career Day representatives, and many more! We are more than happy to work with local schools and educators to personalize the event to meet your learning objectives.

Additionally, we are always looking for more volunteers to get involved and help with our various events, so if you are interested please email us at ascephilaymfk12@gmail.com with any questions or to get on our mailing list!
