The Phase One Tour of the Rail Park gives an overview of the Rail Park’s history and highlights the nature, arts, and culture of Phase One and its surrounding communities. After years of advocacy, community conversations, and fundraising, Phase One of the Rail Park opened in June of 2018. Phase One, the first section of the Rail Park that is open to the public, was built on the original structure from the Reading Railroad and travels east from Broad Street, beginning above street level until it becomes entirely supported by the elevated viaduct structure. The tour is being provided by the Rail Park Team’s Development & Operations Associate, Vanessa Chandler, as a token of appreciation for the YMF’s continued support of the project.

This 45-minute tour is a 1/4 mile in length, beginning at 1300 Noble Street and ending at 1100 Callowhill Street. The 1300 Noble Street entrance is the only ADA accessible entrance; Attendees should plan to walk at least 1/2 mile round-trip to exit the tour. Both free and paid on-street parking is available around the Rail Park. There is also a paid parking lot at 411 N 13th Street. There are no restrooms available at the Rail Park. There are also public transportation options to the Rail Park; Bus lines 2, 4, 16, 23, 45, and 61; Broad Street Subway line is about a 5-minute walk from the Rail Park. This event has a 20 person maximum capacity.

Following the tour, join us for an informal happy hour at Prohibition Taproom (501 N 13th St, Philadelphia, PA 19123). Attendees may order food and drinks at their own discretion. The happy hour location is two blocks from the Noble Street entrance of the Rail Park. Attendees must be 21+ to purchase and/or consume alcohol.
