The application forms are different for each state (PA, NJ, DE). However, they all require the following information:
- Applicant’s name and address
-

   - Must have worked under a PE
   - Experience must be detailed with dates and duration

What is “qualified engineering experience”? · Creative engineering work
- Designs
- Engineering calculations
- Applying sound judgement
- Arriving at decisions
- Giving engineering advice
- Construction Management
- Construction Inspection
NOTE: NCEES states that you need a combination of this experience. Be sure to make reference to these aspects of experience. Emphasize your design experience.

When to apply?
- If you are taking the October exam, July 1 is the deadline.
- If you are taking the April exam, December 1 is the deadline.
- Organize your application two months before it is due. Follow up with your college registrar’s office and your references to make sure the forms are submitted on time. The board will not inform you of missing material!

Make copies of all of your forms and correspondence in case they are lost in the mail. You should send your application through USPS Certified Mail.

If you plan to use your time in a graduate school as work experience on the PE application, check with state that you apply first. Both Delaware and Pennsylvania currently allow one year of graduate research as relevant experience.

If you have a degree in Engineering Technology or a degree from a non-accredited school, you may have to acquire additional work experience prior to being eligible for the exam. Check with your state to verify their requirements.
