On March 19th and 20th, Adrienne Nikolic attended ASCE's 2013 Legislative Fly-In event held in Washington, DC. ASCE members from all 50 states gathered at the Legislative Fly-In event to discuss public policy affecting the nation’s infrastructure and the civil engineering profession, as well as meet with elected officials on Capital Hill to discuss these important issues and share the 2013 Infrastructure Report Card (released on March 19, 2013).
During meetings with Representatives and Senators, members reviewed the grades and findings of the 2013 Infrastructure Report Card and asked for support of the Water Resources Development Act (WRDA) and a long-term, sustainable funding source for surface transportation infrastructure.
This year's Legislative Fly-In Event had the largest attendance to date and included members representing all 50 states. Not only was it a wonderful event to meet other fellow ASCE members, but it provided an opportunity for civil engineers to have an active voice in the current infrastructure policy discussions taking place in Washington.
