On Wednesday, March 6th, 2013, the YMF coordinated a construction tour of Boeing's H-47 Chinook (twin-engine, tandem rotor, heavy-lift, military helicopter) production facility at their Ridley Park Campus. Boeing's renovations include the H-47 factory and adjacent Building 3-62, converting Building 3-92 from production to office space, converting Building 3-80 into a rain test bay, constructing a central utility plant and converting the old boiler building to a fire station. The renovations are scheduled around the 24 hour, 7-day-per-week operation, creating a complex schedule. The tour consisted of a presentation of the history of the Chinook helicopter program and renovations and a walkthrough of the production facility. The renovations of the H-47 factory and Building 3-80 as well as the construction of the central utility plant have already been completed. The remaining renovations are projected to be completed late 2014. Boeing hosted sixteen ASCE members and the tour was led by Andrew Munter, Senior Construction Manager, Associate, STV.
