On January 9th, 2013, the ASCE YMF organized a tour of the SEPTA Central Command Control Center located in Philadelphia, PA. A brief introduction was provided to the real-time system including acquiring information, scheduling, routing, and coordination. Afterwards, a complete transit display walkthrough was led by Jim Fox, Chief of Control Center Operations and Jack Power, Managing Director, while discussing in depth the technical facilities, command hierarchy, and error safeguards. Future upgrades and improvements to SEPTA's system were also discussed. The event was a great success with 20 ASCE members in attendance ranging from students to working professionals. Thanks to Jim, Jack and SEPTA for accommodating our group and leading the tour!
