11th Annual Winter Social

On January 31, 2007, the YMF held their 11th Annual Winter Social at the Independence Brew Pub in Center City Philadelphia. The event was a wild success with 175 people attending making it, by far, the largest turnout for a Winter Social, or any YMF event, to date. For those of you that attended, we want to thank you for your support and we hope to see you again next year. Also, please email Don Gusic with any suggestions or feedback you have for this event so that we can further improve it next year.

The event was also a huge success in terms of our annual charity raffle. The raffle featured well over $1,500 in prizes this year. We also featured a silent auction which helped contribute to the success of the charity fundraiser. In the end, we contributed $1,160 to local food bank organization PhilAbundance and $200 to the Future City Competition. Please take a moment to read the thank you letter from PhilAbundance. We wish to express our sincerest gratitude towards the companies that contributed to the success of this charity event; a list of those companies that we wish to thank can be found here.

The planning for this event was a huge undertaking, especially due to the change of venue from McGillin's Olde Ale House. The event was setup and planned by most of the board members, with significant time and effort from the Winter Social Committee: Joe Platt, John Federico, Cathy Golata, Sheri Miller, Don Gusic, Mike Wagner, and Jeremy Chrzan.
